What is shockwave?

Shockwave treatment (also called “Acoustic Compression Therapy”) is widely used to address acute and chronic pain in muscles, tendons, and joints. The mechanical stimulus (provided by our PiezoWave machine) improves circulation and relieves pain, playing an essential role in the healing process.

Shockwave is an excellent treatment for a variety of conditions, particularly pertaining to athletes. These conditions include:

tennis / golfer's elbow

Bursitis

tendonitis

plantar fasciitis

osteoarthritic conditions

chronic hip pain

Getting Started

We will first begin by reviewing your medical history, medication, and goals to determine if Shockwave treatment is right for you and your condition. You should cease taking any anti-inflammatory medication such as aspirin or ibuprofen at least 5 days prior to your first procedure.

Please note that Shockwave therapy is a self-pay service. Contact us if you have any questions about cost or billing.

Your personalized treatment

After your first treatment, you will immediately be able to return to your normal activities. However, you may be advised to refrain from strenuous activity, and will be prescribed a set of exercises designed specifically for your body and treatment plan. You will be provided with detailed information on what to pay attention to and how to care for yourself during your treatment.
